I'm Back!

Hello all! Sorry I've been so MIA. I looked and it's been almost exactly a year since my last post...crazy...  In short, senior year was crazy and just took over my life completely. But good thing, I graduated the day before yesterday so I hope to finally have some time to blog on a regular basis. Although I didn't have time to write any posts over this past year, I'd check on my blog every now and then; I was so surprised and genuinely excited to see (through my viewing statistics) that people were still coming back and checking on my blog even months after my last posting, and let me tell you-- it brought a smile to my face every time I saw that people were reading (and I hope enjoying) my content. I can now only hope to return the smile to your face with some more posts!

Summertime Arm Party

Breezy neutral-colored blouses, worn-in shorts, and an arm party going on... and you're set to go for summer. Here are some bracelets I've been eyeing recently which are on the more affordable/realistic side of things. Although if Eddie Borgo wanted to send me one of his cone bracelets, let's just say I would not oppose it.
Summertime Arm Party!
[A lot of brighter colors than I'm usually drawn to, but I figured I should try to branch out a bit for summer.]

Toot it and Boot it

My favorite shoes beyond all are… BOOTS! (as if that was not already clear from the title). So, I just figured I'd give you a little insight into my boot collection. Not that it's a "collection," more just like "some of the boots I enjoy wearing" but that's kind of a lot of words to say when I could just say "collection." But I guess I said both now… Well..

Hunter

Ugg

Rebel

Steve Madden

Rebel

Frye

Ecoté

Also, sorry for the photo quality! I really wanted to get this post up, but when I decided to shoot there was no natural light inside, barely any outside (as it was getting dark) and about twenty min after I got inside, it was completely pitch black out… so that's why I had to use flash in some, which is why the colors change between shots. I'd say aside from the first pair of Rebel short suede boots and the Hunter wellies, the "true" color of the boots is just in between the two colors of a flash and non-flash photograph (I purposely made to include a flash and non-flash photo as to ensure that you can get a clear idea of the real color). And also, disclaimer: sorry for the shotty pictures of me holding up those boots..it's difficult taking a photo and holding the boot shaft up so you can see what it looks like! Let's just say they were like point and shoot, non-focused kinds of photos.. I just wanted you all to be able to get a better idea! Oh, and lastly, the black Frye boots are a lot less shiny than what it shows in the photos- the flash just made it look like they had a sheen, when in fact they're actually pretty matte.

Here's a picture of the Frye's with no flash which shows their finish a bit better, although for you to even really see the boots, I had to really increase the exposure, so that's why the picture looks a bit wonky/ it's still difficult to see the finish..sorry!

(increased exposure slightly)

(increased exposure)
And lastly, here were some shots of when I was shooting-- just out my backyard, nothing too special, but I thought it was still pretty! (on a few, as I'll note on the pictures, I had to increase the exposure so you could actually see the detail, etc in the shot.. But it's just to see a smidgen of spring-ness (as it was getting dark out), but that's all right!

I'm still here

It's been a long time, eh? Sorry, life has been extremely hectic consisting of mostly splendid things, but also some not so splendid. While I have a lot of work over the next few months, I do however have the ability to be smart about spacing it out and keeping sane…something which I'm going to try to do! With that said, I hope to come back to posting more regularly, let's hope everyday? Most likely not, but I'll try my best.

Color

Wow, where have the past few weeks gone? Life has just been so chaotic (but really good!) that I just have not had a moment to collect my thoughts and relax. Unfortunately, I went to go shoot some photos today for the blog, however, my camera is kind of messed up right now, and unfortunately, right now I do not have the time to figure things out... I have a hunch it may be my iso settings but I'm genuinely not sure... hmm.. we'll see. So, for now, instead of uploading the photos I was planning on shooting, I figure I'd talk about ..color. Interesting, I know.

Color... well to start, a brief history of myself with color (in regard to clothing) was that I used to be a very "top-py" kind of person. I'm not really sure how else to expain this other than the kinds of tops that when you used to click on the "tops" category on urbanoutfitters.com, that is what would come up... you know, like pattern-y, whole look in a single top sort of thing? I realize that I completely sound like a fool trying to explain this, but they are usually colorful, pattern-y, and the type of thing that you would not wear too often as they are so "on their own" that it's basically the entire outfit in itself... okay. I'll stop trying to explain now... but long story short, I then went through this phase where I was "anti-tops" basically nixing out a lot of colors, etc. I guess that's where I still am though, so without going on top overload, I think it's time that I start stepping out of my navy blues, greys, blacks, whites, creams, etc. as it is clear colors are (sort of) a necessity for spring. I'm not sure though. While I keep "up-to-date"with the trends, I am definitely not one who will necessarily do them-- whether it is due to not wanting to drop some cash on them or whether I'm lazy or whether I don't like them...who knows? However, two weekends ago, I had this moment of realization. I came back from this hike-ish thing near this beautiful bridge, I got home, and I just wanted to strip. I ran in to my mom's closet and surprisingly grabbed this complete hippie-meets-hawaiian shirt (material)-frock. I know, weird.. I mean, it's completely ridiculous, completely comfortable, but most of all, it's completely colorful-like full out colorful. But here's where the realization comes into play... I've heard so many times that wearing bright colors can make you happy (which I always just laughed off) but I think it may be true... However, it is very possible that my three day weekend had something to do with the fact of how good my mood was that day... Regardless, it legitimately made me feel happy, so I figured, hey maybe it's due to some color? With all that said, maybe it's time to start seriously considering more color for this spring, and who knows where I'll end up.. ya?? And I will say, as much as it's "not my thing," I've been kind of digging the look of neons and nudes combined... hmm. Well, here are some colorful looks I've been liking recently. Oh, and I've also really been liking coral and white (combined) and long tops in general.. I'm not sure why, but I'm sort of embracing the covered-butt look (even though it's spring and time for crop tops)-- but get this, a cropped bustier under a sheer long top... can you say clever solution for looking slightly more spring-y? I mean, maybe you can't say that, but I will... Oh, and to clarify, I'm more of a neutral girl (with the slightest pop of neon (if any at all...))-- not a lot of neon... OH and I almost forgot... OBSESSED with light wash jeans. I always have been so I'm SO excited to see it make a comeback-- although I keep only finding light wash jeggings/stretch jeans, and I'm more of a "legit-jean-material-girl" so I hope I start seeing some of that.. I don't think that stretchy light wash looks good a lot of the time and/or is flattering.
