Color

Wow, where have the past few weeks gone? Life has just been so chaotic (but really good!) that I just have not had a moment to collect my thoughts and relax. Unfortunately, I went to go shoot some photos today for the blog, however, my camera is kind of messed up right now, and unfortunately, right now I do not have the time to figure things out... I have a hunch it may be my iso settings but I'm genuinely not sure... hmm.. we'll see. So, for now, instead of uploading the photos I was planning on shooting, I figure I'd talk about ..color. Interesting, I know.

Color... well to start, a brief history of myself with color (in regard to clothing) was that I used to be a very "top-py" kind of person. I'm not really sure how else to expain this other than the kinds of tops that when you used to click on the "tops" category on urbanoutfitters.com, that is what would come up... you know, like pattern-y, whole look in a single top sort of thing? I realize that I completely sound like a fool trying to explain this, but they are usually colorful, pattern-y, and the type of thing that you would not wear too often as they are so "on their own" that it's basically the entire outfit in itself... okay. I'll stop trying to explain now... but long story short, I then went through this phase where I was "anti-tops" basically nixing out a lot of colors, etc. I guess that's where I still am though, so without going on top overload, I think it's time that I start stepping out of my navy blues, greys, blacks, whites, creams, etc. as it is clear colors are (sort of) a necessity for spring. I'm not sure though. While I keep "up-to-date"with the trends, I am definitely not one who will necessarily do them-- whether it is due to not wanting to drop some cash on them or whether I'm lazy or whether I don't like them...who knows? However, two weekends ago, I had this moment of realization. I came back from this hike-ish thing near this beautiful bridge, I got home, and I just wanted to strip. I ran in to my mom's closet and surprisingly grabbed this complete hippie-meets-hawaiian shirt (material)-frock. I know, weird.. I mean, it's completely ridiculous, completely comfortable, but most of all, it's completely colorful-like full out colorful. But here's where the realization comes into play... I've heard so many times that wearing bright colors can make you happy (which I always just laughed off) but I think it may be true... However, it is very possible that my three day weekend had something to do with the fact of how good my mood was that day... Regardless, it legitimately made me feel happy, so I figured, hey maybe it's due to some color? With all that said, maybe it's time to start seriously considering more color for this spring, and who knows where I'll end up.. ya?? And I will say, as much as it's "not my thing," I've been kind of digging the look of neons and nudes combined... hmm. Well, here are some colorful looks I've been liking recently. Oh, and I've also really been liking coral and white (combined) and long tops in general.. I'm not sure why, but I'm sort of embracing the covered-butt look (even though it's spring and time for crop tops)-- but get this, a cropped bustier under a sheer long top... can you say clever solution for looking slightly more spring-y? I mean, maybe you can't say that, but I will... Oh, and to clarify, I'm more of a neutral girl (with the slightest pop of neon (if any at all...))-- not a lot of neon... OH and I almost forgot... OBSESSED with light wash jeans. I always have been so I'm SO excited to see it make a comeback-- although I keep only finding light wash jeggings/stretch jeans, and I'm more of a "legit-jean-material-girl" so I hope I start seeing some of that.. I don't think that stretchy light wash looks good a lot of the time and/or is flattering.

Alexander McQueen Fall 2012 Ready-to-Wear

... need I say more?!

As most of you could most likely tell from my McQueen post (a few posts back), Alexander McQueen is my all time (and will probably remain as so) favorite designer.. ever. So, with the show today, I figured when is there a better time to divulge my thoughts than now? (Other than probably nearly any other time-- when I should be getting some sleep...) Anywho, back to McQueen. While maybe I'll do a part two on this post, as I'm extremely exhausted and know I need to explain myself more with pictures, etc., I feel like a traitor. Like a disloyal fan. I was really just not that pleased with this collection. Wow, hearing those words escape my mouth when in regard to McQueen is quite difficult, but I realize that there is no point in lying. Obviously I did not dislike everything, and as I said, in a part two of this post I'll hopefully elaborate more[disclaimer: I will try to do a part two, but if it never goes up, I'm sorry ahead of time], but I really just felt that while McQueen as well as so many designers have so many seemingly-unwearable pieces, these ones just struck me not as the kind of "unwearable" as with some of his other collections, but truly just...unwearable. I'm not sure; maybe I just have not yet wrapped my head around it and am exhausted while looking at the pictures. Maybe tomorrow I'll wake up and think, "Wow, that collection was amazing, what was I talking about?" Unfortunately thought, at the moment, I legitimately feel sad/angry with myself for being very unimpressed, but regardless of my mood which could be causing it, that's how I feel at this very second and must come to terms with it. I guess how I just like to think of it is, "Would I like/appreciate these pieces if it was by a differnt designer, say Dior or Acne or Rebecca Minkoff?" While I know that is like comparing apples and oranges, or even more so, just completely incomparable (in my mind), I should like the clothes as they are, not just because they are McQueen. But, what saddens me most is, that even though they are McQueen, not even that was enough to convince myself that I liked the collection... and was it just me, or was that McQueen flair not really there? The detail in the fabrics was lacking, and if there was any, it was very textural (not in the material as much itself), and lacked it's usual intricate and symmetric flair. Don't get me wrong though-- I did like the collection still, just not as much as I usually do, and they were just hard to appreciate on the same level because they were much less clothing and much more pieces of art/sculpture (not that his usually are't, just these more so).

(I'll try to add photos tomorrow, but for now I'm exhausted, so if you want to feast your eyes and get the low-down of this show,, check out: http://www.style.com/fashionshows/review/F2012RTW-AMCQUEEN )

P.S. watch me have entirely different thoughts on the show tomorrow when I am not half asleep... and also, et me know your thoughts and opinions in the comments below!

Countdown

my current countdowns:
-to the weekend
-to when my brother comes home
-to spring break
-to my birthday
-to summer
(and a lot more)

but mostly, I could not be more excited for this weekend. I'm literally just so excited. Time to catch up on all my favorite things, hopefully (online) shop a bit, etc. I'm also thinking about beginning to compile a birthday list...and I also really need to place an order on Amazon with some essentials. (Bioderma, a camera sling thing, a few nail polishes, etc.) For me, while those are all small things to be done, I could not be more excited to do them this weekend. To really just relax in general. Are you looking forward to the weekend? What will you guys be upto? Let me know in the comments below :)

Just a few things and a quick hello

hello world... sorry I've been so MIA for the past little bit. Life has been interesting to say the least, but for the most part, unfortunately, it has been extremely stressfull and jam-packed, leaving little free time for that matter, and even littler free time for posting. So, while my little "sabbatical"is not necessarily over (I have SO much left to do today and tomorrow, and the first part of this week in general, I just wanted to say a little hello to all with a quick little post. At this point, I have no clue what I'm righting about, so brb until I figure out what.

(..5 min later...)

so, I'm not sure if this is a boring kind of post or not (please, let me know if it is or isn't in the comments-- I love honest feedback, and am so not going to take criticism personally), but I'm going to do a post of just some things I want, generally speaking. This is going to be somewhat of a less "fashion-y" post, and more just fashion in terms of what someone my age could actually get away with wearing, and putting designer labels aside...here goes something:

(I was planning on adding some more pictures and descriptions, however, I must leave and do work.. this is all for now)

Don't worry, I'll try to keep in the swing of things and keep posting more frequently! I've felt such an influx of love from all the views on this blog so far, and I really appreciate it! If you have any blogs, I'd love to see them, so just leave the link down below on a comment!
